FIELD TRIPS

POPULAR NEW FORMAT BACK AGAIN!

It's as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Schedule your hayride time online. The hayride takes you to the pumpkin patch, where students will be able to pick a kid-sized pumpkin to take home.

  2. Decide when to arrive at The Farmstead. Make sure to plan adequately to arrive at your scheduled hayride time. In some cases, you may want to plan some time on the farm prior to your hayride. We ask that the teacher checks their class in at the Admissions building at least 15 minutes in advance of their scheduled hayride time. The Farmstead is open for Field Trips on Fridays from 10:00am-1:00pm in October. On average, classrooms spend 2 hours at the farm.

  3. Remember these tips for an a-MAiZE-ing Field Trip: Bring a full water bottle, dress appropriately for being on the farm, and consider bringing snacks or lunches.

Farmstead Field Trips include:

  • Hayride to the patch where each student can pick a kid-sized pumpkin to take home

  • Navigate one phase (half) of The MAiZE or the Mini MAiZE

  • Visit to our farm animals and honeybees

  • Play on the Corn Poppers, Corn Cob Beach, the Famous Idaho® Potato Sack Slide, and more!

  • We recommend you plan your Field Trip for approximately 2 hours

Classroom in the Corn Learning Series

Hands-on learning experiences are always best when students have been prepared for what they are about to encounter and are able to then discuss what they learned afterwards. We are pleased to offer our Classroom in the Corn learning series to make your field trip more exciting and memorable … as well as a better learning experience.

These Teacher Resource Guides are broken into separate grade ranges and each include: activity goals, National Curriculum Standards, preparation required, materials needed, worksheets, and step-by-step instructions.

(Upon scheduling your field trip, you will receive a password to download the curriculum.)
